THE ALBUM
EVERYTHING SHOULD BE
His self-produced debut album showcases a bold, genre-blurring soundscape with guest appearances by Christian McBride, Shai Maestro, and Braxton Cook. Blending indie folk lyricism, electronic textures, and his own distinctive guitar and vocals, the album captures the full range of Ely’s artistry.
“A clear statement of intent for a debut: a musician bridging jazz fluency and electronic design without losing immediacy; repetition becomes release, and sound design feels as deliberate as composition.”

ABOUT ELY
Based in New York City, Ely is emerging as one of the scene’s most exciting new voices. Known for his genre-blending versatility, he connects his all-around guitar, production and composition skills.
Ely is a member of Ursa Major, the newest quintet led by eight-time Grammy Award–winning bassist Christian McBride. He has collaborated with a wide range of acclaimed artists, including Shai Maestro, Braxton Cook, Noah Preminger, Amir Bresler, and many more. Active across New York’s jazz and indie scenes, Ely continues to shape a distinct artistic identity - bridging tradition and innovation through a modern, emotionally driven sound.
Originally from Tel Aviv, Ely began his musical journey at a young age and developed a strong foundation in jazz and contemporary music. He is a graduate of the Jazz Department at Thelma Yellin High School of the Arts, followed by studies at the Center for Jazz Studies at the Israel Conservatory of Music, before moving to the United States to attend Berklee College of Music, where he further refined his voice as a guitarist, composer, and producer.

PRESS
“Guitarist Ely Perlman; is the album’s secret sauce. His ominous lines ; are deft and inventive, but engage just the right amount of causticity, distortion and unease to leave them trailing in the ear.”
DOWNBEAT
“Perlman’s composition swims in the seas of contemporary jazz meets ambient. A minimalist approach, opened up with processed electric guitar, which favors texture and mood over extended virtuoso spotlighting.”
HUMP DAY NEWS
“Guitarist Ely Perlman.. showed off incredible solo skills that reminded listeners of the gold standard musicianship of legendary jazz and jazz fusion guitarist Pat Metheny.”
UTAH JAZZ REVIEW
“The newest name… guitarist Ely Perlman, was one of the primary takeaways from the festival. His solos kept arriving at striking original ideas. Watch for him.”
